2007/2008年管風琴第七級考試內容與規則

Scales and Arpeggios (Published by the Board): from memory:

MANUAL SCALES: legato or staccato, as directed by the examiner:

(i) in similar motion with hands together one octave apart, in all keys, major and minor, both melodic and harmonic (two octaves)

(ii) in contrary motion, hands beginning and ending on the key-note (unison), in the keys of D, E flat and D flat majors (two octaves)

CHROMATIC SCALES: legato or staccato, as directed by the examiner:

(i) in similar motion with hands together one octave apart, beginning on any note named by the examiner (two octaves)

(ii) in contrary motion with hands beginning and ending on the same note (unison), starting on C and on C sharp (two octaves)

MANUAL ARPEGGIOS: legato only, with hands together one octave apart:

(i) the major and minor common chords, in root position only, in all keys (two octaves)

(ii) diminished seventh chords, beginning on B, C and C sharp (two octaves)

PEDAL EXERCISE (not required to be played from memory) at the choice of the examiner, either

(i) first pedal solo, bars 55-82, from Bach's Toccata in F, BWV 540 or

(ii) pedal part of the 12/8 variation from Mendelssohn's Sonata in D minor, Op.65 no.6.

Playing at Sight: See General Regulations for Organ.

Transposing at Sight: a simple tune in four-part harmony (manuals only) a tone higher or lower, as directed by the examiner, without first playing it through in the original key.

Blind candidates will be given a combined memory and transposition test in place of the two tests above. A copy in Braille of a simple hymn tune will be given to the candidate 10 minutes before the examination. The candidate will then be asked to play it on manuals only at the beginning of the examination, first in the original key, and then a tone or semitone higher or lower as directed by the examiner.
